Champaign-Urbana, ILLINOIS – Would you like to have a blast,
make a mess, and earn money all at the same time?
Volunteers at OpenSourceArt wanted to raise money for their art
studio in Illinois. In April, they held a fundraiser called “Fiscal Fitness.”

Each volunteer chose a fun, physical
activity and combined it with some
type of art material to create a work
of wonder. They found sponsors,
and those who donated money were
given a piece of the finished artwork.
This dodge ball game is really a way
to
create art and raise money for an
art studio in Illinois.
Some artists colored a ball with graphite
and bounced it on a large
piece of paper
on the floor. The marks created a
modern-type collage.
Others hurled a ball soaked in paint
at a moving target. Art students
also exercised to music while holding
pencils behind them to make
a mural-in-motion.
“It was hard work getting the
donations, but it was fun playing
the games, and we raised a lot of money,”
said Daryl McCurdy,
20, an art student
at the University of Illinois.
