Some pet food found to be DANGEROUS

Dogs and cats around the country have gotten sick and many have died from
pet food that was poisoned. Check the website to see if your pet’s food brand
is on the danger list. See www.rnrk.com/weblinks.html

Pet owners across the United States are searching store shelves for safe pet food. Pet food maker Menu Foods has recalled 60 million cans and packets of pet food because pets have died after eating them. A chemical used in pest control accidentally got into one of the pet food ingredients.

There have been 16 confirmed deaths – 15 cats and one dog. However, some veterinarians feel that perhaps hundreds of pets may have died from the poisoned food. So far the common factor in all of the deaths is that the pet food makers used wheat gluten purchased from China.

“Before they put this stuff in the bags, there should be some kind of test,” said Jeff Kerner, whose Yorkshire terrier named Pebbles died.

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) monitors cans, boxes, and bags of pet food, as well as treats. More than 100 different brands of wet and dry dog food and cat food have been recalled. Some brands of dog biscuits are now on the growing list of possibly dangerous food.

If you choose to feed your pet human food, avoid giving it chocolate, grapes, and food made with large amounts of salt, onions, and garlic.

Visit the link at www.rnrk.com/weblinks.html for a complete list of recalled pet food.
