and illustrators who are passionate about this project. We are
dedicated to sharing our talents to touch the lives of children.

Carol Mader Hale
Editor- in- Chief

Carol has published six books for teachers and is a contributing
author to twelve more. She wrote four years of curriculum for
Group Publishing. She was a feature writer and photographer
for The Huntsville Times. Carol, Charlie, Ivan, and
Hans live in Madison, AL.
Charles Hale

He writes the Ask Charlie column, assigns stories, and
provides writers with news sources. Charlie works as a
Technical Writer/Configuration Manager at Redstone
Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. He has one daughter.
Charlie brings keen insight and
all-round help from his
years of experience as an
avowed "news junkie".

Kristina Butler

Kristina’s asset to RNRK is multi-tasking. She is our graphic
designer,
layout editor, photo editor, and web master.
She is also a traditional
artist & professional dancer & teacher
at New Horizons Dance Academy in El Paso, TX.
She works in a variety of media such as painting, printmaking and

She stands on her faith
for much of her inspiration
at RNRK,
and in her studio.
Kristina Lives in El Paso, Texas with her
husband Evan, cat and two dogs.
Sarah Pavlik
News Writer/City Editor
Sarah received her journalism degree from UAH and now
writes
for The Huntsville Times. Sarah has had articles published
in
national and local magazines. We are lucky to have Sarah
share
her skills and experience with us.
Based in Huntsville, AL,
Sarah teaches her oldest son at home.
Sarah and her
husband Joe have three active boys.
Ivan Mader

Ivan is in 11th grade at Bob Jones High School and specializes in
human figures. He has a blossoming portrait business.He amazes
us with his speed and skill in creating all types of art and illustrations
for The Real News. We couldn’t do it without him. Ivan brings
great perspective into the powerful arena of political cartooning.
Hans Mader

Hans has the job of illustrating a joke He has been the kid reporter
coming through for us time and again while honing his writing skills.
He is especially gifted in writing humor. Hans is in eighth grade,
loves to play with his dog Simba, play soccer, and skateboard.
Anna Claire Vollers
Editor/Copy Editor
Anna Claire received a degree in journalism and in English from
Auburn University. She has worked as a writer and editor for
both newspapers and magazines, including Culture & Leisure
Magazine and The Huntsville Times.

importance
of building kids’ interest
in current events and

two cats in Huntsville, AL.
Julie Lavender
News Writer
Julie has published four years of curriculum for teachers and
has
been a contributing author to nine books. She is the author
of two books and many magazine articles.
Her editing and writing skills have proven invaluable to
meeting deadlines and
creating top-notch work.
Julie and her
husband teach their four children at home in Statesboro, Georgia.

Ian Murrin
Sports Writer
Ian is a sports fan-atic! He shares his love for sports with children
by choosing stories that are important, cutting-edge in the sports
world, and inspirational. Ian is a sophomore at Front Range
Community College in Colorado studying to be a full-time sports
journalist. His favorite sports are basketball and football.
Gina Kelly
Copy Editor
Gina received her journalism degree from Columbia University
and is now a practicing legal assistant in Huntsville, AL. While
preparing for law school, Gina uses her editing skills to help make
our sentences flow just write for children.
